Overview

Japan Atomic Energy Agency has conducted a variety of research activities related to nuclear energy as the only-one comprehensive nuclear research and development institution in Japan. Center for Computational Science & e-Systems is researching important issues on nuclear energy by utilizing most advanced technology in the computational science field. Such issues include physical property analysis of nuclear fuel with strong radiation, long-term environmental dynamics of radioactive nuclides, seismic analysis of entire nuclear facility, and so on.

Content of business

In order to contribute the assessment and enhancement of the nuclear safety as well as the Fukushima recovery, the center is working on computational science research for physical properties of nuclear materials and structural analysis of nuclear facilities, and also promoting research on the fundamental technology such as large scale high precision parallel computing, remote visualization of large volume data.
